About the role

The Inventory Auditor is responsible for the integrity of the master data within our ERP system (SAP). This role involves designing and managing consistency in master data creation, changes, and deletions, as well as leading projects to clean up current master data (customers, materials, vendors). The position establishes processes and quality metrics to ensure ongoing data consistency and analyzes system improvements for SAP. The Inventory Auditor provides training, support, and audit processes to all departments regarding system processes and ensures compliance with key controls (SOX). This position is on-site and located in Christiansburg, VA (must reside in the area).

Responsibilities

  • Material Master:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for addition and maintenance of materials in SAP.
    • Review, analyze, and correct anomalies in the material master.
    • Collaborate with all departments to resolve master data-related process issues.
    • Perform regular and consistent quality checks on all new and changed master data.
    • Work closely with engineers, VC engineers, and IT personnel to make mass changes to introduce new data or edit existing data.
  • Bill of Material:
    • Conduct regular analysis of BOMs for accuracy, consistency, and structure to support production processes and change management.
  • System Cleanup:
    • Analyze the system for outstanding COGIs, clear negative materials, and ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Inventory:
    • Generate regular inventory reports from SAP for analysis and inventory strategy assistance.
  • New Products:
    • Support operations in key business initiatives such as new product launches and product transfers.
  • Material Replenishment:
    • Properly code materials for appropriate replenishment strategies.
    • Maintain the Kanban card database and card system.
  • Procurement:
    • Work closely with procurement to ensure timely purchasing parameter reviews and associated material master changes.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Lead process improvements impacting the timely and accurate entry, maintenance, and migration of master data across multiple systems and platforms.
  • Communication:
    • Communicate new processes and standards to team members and provide training as required.
  • Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with all key and relevant controls (SOX).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Science/Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to quickly build and develop effective working relationships across all levels and functional areas.
  • Ability to work independently and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate potential issues and implement solutions.
  • Fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience managing master data in a complex ERP environment.
  • 1-2 years of experience with SAP WM/PP modules.
  • Expertise in data profiling, data cleansing, and standardization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including process documentation and presentation skills.
