About the role
Acme Tools is seeking an Inventory Specialist who loves staying on top of product inventory levels and has a keen eye for detail. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to develop and implement impactful solutions based on research and manufacturer information, and will communicate these effectively with the Purchasing team.
Responsibilities
- Collecting and analyzing data sales trends and forecasting purposes
- Analyze information and develop recommendations to drive sales opportunities, improve margins and increase inventory turns
- Make recommendations for category inventory levels to achieve optimal profitability, ensure maximum turn and in-stock position
- Work closely with vendor plant personnel to facilitate a timely and accurate order-fulfillment process
- Maintain effective working relationships with suppliers
- Focus and track daily sales
- Leverage analytical skills to identify shortage opportunities, uncover root causes, propose solutions and drive change
- Demonstrate ability to complete complex projects simultaneously meeting objectives, timeliness, and achieving positive financial results
- Maximize sales, profits and inventory flow
- Generate orders to replenish stores/DCs
- Track purchase orders to assure product arrives on time and receiving the correct quantities
- React to purchase orders that are more than seven days past due and those with backorders
- Provide stores with the correct amount of inventory to cover sales during promotions
- Follow up orders to maintain proper inventory levels after promotions
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in a business field or at least 2+ years of related experience
- Microsoft Excel and word processing software proficiency
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and presentation skills with the ability to write reports and business correspondence
- Knowledge of calculating figures and amounts such as profit margins, discounts, percentages, and inventory levels
- A natural curiosity for how things work and the ability to adapt to ever-changing internet world
- Able to work autonomously and part of a team environment, and to keep a high degree of confidentiality of all department and company information
Qualifications
- Prior experience with inventory control practices and web analytics
- Point of sale system experience working in a retail environment
- Bonus points for tool and equipment industry knowledge
Skills
