About the role

The Senior Specialist of Inventory Control plays a key role in ensuring products flow correctly from Wayfair's fulfillment centers to stores, creating a seamless shopping experience for customers. You will serve as the subject matter expert for inbound exceptions, partner closely with Field Operations and other support teams, and provide training across multiple stores.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve Inbound Exceptions: Investigate and resolve receiving issues quickly and accurately so inventory remains sellable and available to customers.
  • Serve as the SME for Exceptions: Provide training, resources, and guidance to store teams on inbound exceptions processes and best practices.
  • Analyze Inventory Trends: Review receiving performance data, spot patterns, and recommend improvements to strengthen accuracy across stores.
  • Partner Across the Network: Collaborate with fulfillment centers, P&A teams, Field Operations, and corporate partners to reduce exceptions and troubleshoot challenges.
  • Assess Store Performance Weekly: Review weekly inventory metrics and provide clear insights and action plans to store leadership.
  • Conduct Targeted Cycle Counts: Perform focused counts tied to discrepancies, category resets, or seasonal updates.
  • Support Inventory Audits: Play an important role in bi-annual audits and BOH cycle counts to maintain operational excellence.
  • Operate as “One Team”: Support Wayfair’s total store goals by cross-training across key store functions, including sales and back-of-house operations.
  • Manage Daily Tickets: Manage daily damage reviews, inventory adjustments, and tickets within Tangerine, escalating when service levels require attention.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience with inventory control, receiving workflows, or operational troubleshooting in a retail or fulfillment environment.
  • Ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and build clear, actionable solutions.
  • Comfort supporting multiple stores, coaching teams, and working closely with cross-functional partners.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite or Microsoft Office and confidence navigating inventory or exception-management tools.
  • An attention to detail with a sharp eye for trends, discrepancies, and compliance.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.

Pay

The hourly rate is a fixed entry rate for this position and applies to all new hires. While our system may display a pay range, this role’s starting rate is non-negotiable. Future pay increases are determined by performance, growth, and time in role, in accordance with our compensation policy.

Schedule

Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
