About the role

The Inventory Control Lead is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of workers concerned with inventorying materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts in stockroom, warehouse, or yard.

Schedule

  • 1st shift: Mon–Fri, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • 2nd shift: Tue–Fri, 4:00 PM – 2:30 AM

Pay

  • Attendance Incentive – up to $2,400 bonus for good attendance (refer to policy for rules and details)
  • Referral Bonus – up to $500 per referral (refer to policy for rules and details)
  • Hiring Bonus – up to $1,000 (refer to policy for rules and details)
  • Step-increase program – $0.50 raise after 90 days and again after 180 days (Material Handlers only)
  • Certified/qualified Forklift/Walkie Rider/Cherry Picker drivers – additional $0.50 per hour
  • Certified/qualified Reach Truck drivers – additional $1.00 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Maintain layout of stockroom, warehouse, and other storage areas considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors
  • Study records and recommend remedial actions for non-usable, slow-moving, and excess stock
  • Review records for accuracy and compliance with procedures; determine adequacy of stock levels
  • Schedule work for special and periodic inventories
  • Prepare composite reports from individual reports of Inventory Specialists
  • Trace history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records; recommend remedial actions
  • Issue written/oral instructions and expedite workflow with team members
  • Assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures
  • Travel to assist other facilities (reliable transportation required)
  • Physically count articles or products on shelves, racks, and pallets
  • Utilize computer terminal to account for inventory issues, returns, and documentation

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years related experience and/or training in Inventory Control
  • Minimum 1–2 years related experience and/or training in a warehouse environment
  • Experience operating a forklift and cherry picker/high lift
  • Experience using WMS software (Synapse preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Inventory Control practices, KPI reporting, coordinating cycle-count programs, and product rotation
  • PC literate with experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access Database
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Effective communication in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables in limited-standardization situations
  • Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to determine root cause of problems and implement corrective action
  • Knowledge of business operating systems, internet software, word processing, and spreadsheet software

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Activate phone systems using keyboards and buttons
  • Articulate and speak comfortably in front of others
  • Work in an indoor/office environment; sit and/or use repetitive hand motion
  • Frequently talk, hear, stand, and walk
  • Work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required
  • Work under stressful situations with good cognitive skills, accuracy, and ability to concentrate on multiple tasks
  • Read and discern visual images on various media with 20/20 corrected vision
  • Speak and communicate clearly over telephones
  • Sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician; no evidence of controlled-substance use

Work Environment

  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles
  • Noise level ranges from quiet to moderately loud
