About the Role

The Inventory and Control Specialist manages inventory levels, tracks shipments, and ensures the accuracy of inventory records. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. The ideal candidate will have experience in inventory management, supply chain operations, and logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory records by conducting regular physical counts and reconciling discrepancies.
  • Monitor inventory and reorder points to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize overstock or stockouts.
  • Track shipments and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
  • Adhere to inventory control procedures and policies.
  • Manage and organize the storage of inventory in warehouses or storage facilities.
  • Conduct regular audits of inventory processes to ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Identify, sort, and ship return materials.
  • Identify and resolve inventory-related issues promptly.
  • Assist with the implementation of inventory management software and systems.
  • Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) and ERP software to track inventory movement and maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to inventory.
  • Receive and document material in BC.
  • Keep an inventory of all merchandise entering or exiting the warehouse.
  • Optimize inventory levels to balance availability with carrying costs.
  • Receive invoices against POs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in inventory management, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Skills

  • Proficiency with inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with warehouse operations and best practices.

Physical Requirements

Depending on the assigned area, the work environment is usually outdoors and within a non-weather controlled warehouse. Physical requirements include:

  • Frequent sitting, walking, and standing.
  • Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing.
  • Frequent eye, hand, and finger coordination to use machinery and equipment.
  • Oral and auditory capacity for interpersonal communication and communication through automated devices such as the telephone.
  • The noise level in the work environment ranges from normal office levels to loud levels due to equipment and machinery use.

Safety Expectations

Each employee is responsible for their own safety. Key expectations include:

  • Comply with all company safety programs, rules, regulations, procedures, and instructions.
  • Refrain from any unsafe act that might endanger yourself or fellow workers.
  • Obey all posted company, state, and federal hazard and traffic safety signs.
  • Use all safety devices and personal protective equipment provided for protection.
  • Report all hazards, incidents, and near-miss occurrences to your immediate supervisor or Director of Safety within 2 hours.
  • Promptly report all injuries and suspected work-related illnesses, however slight, to your immediate supervisor or Director of Safety.
  • Employees who drive company vehicles must possess a valid and appropriate driver’s license, and those who operate company equipment must be trained and authorized.
  • Comply with applicable state and federal laws and regulations when operating company vehicles and equipment.
  • Seat belt use is required while operating any company vehicle or equipment.
  • Texting while driving is prohibited by both company policy and state law.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings, training sessions, and surveys as requested.
  • Notify your supervisor or Human Resources immediately of any change in physical or mental condition or use of prescription/illegal drugs that could affect job performance or safety.
  • Working under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs is strictly prohibited.
  • Notify the Human Resources Director within five days of serious driving, drug/alcohol, or criminal convictions.
  • Be a safe worker on and off the job, and help coworkers do their job safely.
