About the role
We are seeking an experienced Forklift Operator to join our wood processing team. This role involves handling large, heavy, and variable loads of raw lumber, timber, and finished wood products in both the plant and outdoor yard environments.
Responsibilities
- Safely load, unload, stack, and move raw logs, processed lumber, bundles of wood, and finished products throughout the plant and yard.
- Feed raw materials to processing machines and clear finished products from the production lines to keep operations moving smoothly.
- Load and unload flatbeds, trailers, and railcars accurately according to shipping manifests.
- Organize yard inventory, ensuring bundles are stacked securely, labeled correctly, and easily accessible.
- Perform daily pre-shift forklift inspections (checking fluids, tires, brakes, and hydraulics) and report any maintenance needs immediately.
- Strictly adhere to all OSHA regulations, plant safety rules, and outdoor yard traffic patterns.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience operating sit-down industrial forklifts (large-capacity or outdoor forklifts handling oversized/lumber loads is a major plus).
- Comfortable working in an industrial plant and outdoor yard environment, including exposure to sawdust, loud machinery, and changing weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).
- Ability to sit for long periods, frequently climb on and off the forklift, and lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- A track record of excellent attendance, punctuality, and a safety-first mindset.
