Inventory Accounting Clerk

About the role

This temp-to-hire position supports automotive inventory accounting for a growing retail organization with multiple dealership locations in Austin, Texas. The role focuses on operational excellence, inventory accuracy, and exceptional customer service within a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Enter all new vehicle inventory into the dealership accounting system.
• Process purchased used vehicle inventory and generate payment checks.
• Reconcile physical vehicle inventory to accounting system balances.
• Reconcile factory holdbacks.
• Monitor parts and service clearing accounts and apply balances to inventory.
• Maintain inventory reporting systems required by dealership management and manufacturers.
• Produce inventory reports as requested by management.
• Perform high-volume and highly accurate VIN number entry.
• Research and resolve inventory discrepancies.
• Maintain confidential accounting and inventory information.
• Attend training sessions and company meetings as required.
• Follow company policies, ethical standards, attendance guidelines, and operational procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2–3 years of inventory, accounting, dealership, data entry, or administrative experience.
• Strong experience with high-volume data entry and exceptional accuracy.
• Advanced 10-key data entry skills with the ability to enter lengthy VIN numbers accurately.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel for tracking, reporting, and data management.
• Strong background in inventory control, inventory reconciliation, accounting support, or dealership operations preferred.
• Proven ability to identify discrepancies, investigate data issues, and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to process large amounts of information with exceptional attention to detail.
• Automotive dealership experience is highly preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently while supporting multiple dealership locations.
• Successful completion of background check and drug screening.
