Inuktitut Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring an Inuktitut Interpreter to work remotely from your home. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Render accurate interpretations between Inuktitut and English speakers.
• Speak clearly and politely in both languages.
• Maintain a professional demeanor during interpreting sessions.
• Stay calm and handle emotionally charged or stressful calls.
• Adapt to various industries' protocols and terminologies.
• Show cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Inuktitut and English with cultural understanding.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to remain neutral and objective during sensitive calls.
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Must be adaptable to LLS technology enhancements.
• At least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in Canada.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write Inuktitut and English highly preferred.

Technical Requirements

• Dedicated personal device for business purposes.
• Desktop/Laptop computers with Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS.
• Tablets (iPadOS or Android) or smartphones (iOS or Android).
• High-speed internet connection with minimum download/upload speeds and ping/jitter values.
• Quiet workspace free from background noise.

Physical Requirements

• Able to operate a keyboard and mouse.
• Manual dexterity to type/write.
• Able to lift up to 26 lbs.
• Exposure to moderate noise levels.

Pay

The pay rate is $1.25 - $1.40 per minute.
