Interventionist Teacher - IDEA Riverview College Prep (Immediate Opening)

This position is grant-funded with Title I Part A funds. Funding may be extended, but there is no guarantee of ongoing and indefinite employment. All duties and responsibilities are allowable and allocable to the grant, and the employee will work solely on allowable activities outlined in the grant program.

About the role

The IDEA Interventionist Teacher intervenes with small groups of students who have identified gaps of 2 or more years in Reading and/or Math, with the goal of closing that gap by 2 years in just one school year. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring all students are prepared to successfully participate in IDEA’s AP for All initiative. Intervention teachers use universal screening, Direct Instruction intervention, frequent progress monitoring, and increasingly intensive research-based instruction for students who continue to have difficulty.

Responsibilities

• Teach Critical Student Intervention (CSI) instruction utilizing model programming for small groups of 3rd-8th grade students academically at risk in reading and/or math, including students in general education, 504, Response to Intervention, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
• Teach district-approved research-based intervention to small groups of Kinder-2nd grade students (dependent on campus assignment) academically at risk in reading and/or math, including students in general education, 504, Response to Intervention, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
• Teach district-approved research-based intervention to small groups of 9th-12th grade students (dependent on campus assignment) academically at risk to graduate, including students in general education, 504, Response to Intervention, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
• Work closely with general education teachers to coordinate support for students requiring intervention.
• Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations.
• Learn, master, and deliver relevant content and grade-level curriculum, core content objectives, and texts.
• Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback.
• Implement formal and informal assessments to track student progress and learning needs, adjust lesson plans accordingly, and update the gradebook weekly.
• Communicate students’ progress with students and families on a weekly basis.
• Effectively use technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage work-related tasks.
• Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system aligned with campus-wide initiatives while developing students’ character and sense of community.
• Help shape and develop a school-wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students and families based on trust, understanding, and respect.
• Host necessary tutoring sessions to meet all students’ needs.
• Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, before and after-school duties, and school-wide meetings and functions.
• Engage in summer and year-long district, school, and personal learning and development.
• Spend a minimum of 40+ hours at school per week.
• Additional responsibilities may include after-school tutoring or Saturday school based on the needs of scholars.

Requirements

• High level of content-area proficiency in Math and/or ELA as evidenced by teaching certification, field of study, or work experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution (required).
• Experience in a K-12 classroom setting (strongly preferred).
• State certification preferred but not required.

• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment.

Pay

The starting teacher salary for 0 years of experience is $57,500. This role is eligible for various stipends based on certifications, credentials, and campus leadership ranging from $500-$4,000 each. Additional performance-based compensation is offered. Additional hourly compensation is provided for after-school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.
