Interventionist - IDEA Bluff Springs College Prep (Immediate Opening)

About the Role

The IDEA Interventionist Teacher intervenes with small groups of students who have identified gaps of 2 or more years in Reading and/or Math with the goal of closing that gap by 2 years in just one school year. This position plays a crucial part in ensuring all students are prepared to successfully participate in IDEA’s AP for All initiative. The role uses universal screening, Direct Instruction intervention, frequent progress monitoring, and increasingly intensive research-based instruction for students who continue to have difficulty. This is a grant-funded position with Title I Part A funds, and funding may be extended.

Responsibilities

• Teach Critical Student Intervention (CSI) instruction using model programming for small groups of 3rd–8th grade students academically at risk in reading and/or math, including general education, 504, Response to Intervention, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
• Teach district-approved research-based intervention to small groups of Kinder–2nd grade students (dependent on campus assignment) academically at risk in reading and/or math.
• Teach district-approved research-based intervention to small groups of 9th–12th grade students (dependent on campus assignment) academically at risk to graduate.
• Coordinate support with general education teachers for students requiring intervention.
• Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations.
• Learn, master, and deliver relevant content and grade-level curriculum, core objectives, and texts.
• Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback.
• Implement formal and informal assessments to track student progress, adjust lesson plans, and update gradebooks weekly.
• Communicate students’ progress with families on a weekly basis.
• Use technology effectively to improve student achievement and manage work-related tasks.
• Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system aligned with campus-wide initiatives while developing students’ character and sense of community.
• Help shape and develop a school-wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students and families based on trust and respect.
• Host necessary tutoring sessions to meet all students’ needs.
• Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, before and after-school duties, and school-wide meetings and functions.
• Engage in summer and year-long district, school, and personal learning and development.
• Spend a minimum of 40+ hours at school per week.
• Additional responsibilities may include after-school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.

Requirements

• High level of content-area proficiency in Math and/or ELA as evidenced by teaching certification, field of study, or work experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution (required).
• Experience in a K-12 classroom setting (strongly preferred).
• State certification preferred but not required.

Benefits

• Compensation: Starting teacher salary for 0 years of experience is $59,500. Eligible for stipends based on certifications, credentials, and campus leadership ($500–$4,000 each). Additional performance-based compensation available.
• Additional Compensation: Hourly pay for after-school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.
• Paid Family Leave: Up to 8 weeks of paid leave for the birth or adoption of a child, based on tenure and caregiver designation.
• Tuition Reimbursement: Up to 50% of tuition for a qualifying degree program, up to $5,250 maximum per year (subject to manager discretion and budget availability).
