Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Preparation & Care
    • Prepare and position patients for neuro-interventional, vascular and interventional radiology (IR) procedures.
    • Perform focused patient review, including pertinent medical history, allergies, and vital signs, to ensure proper care.
    • Administer contrast agents and medications under physician supervision.
    • Explain procedures to patients, ensuring understanding and comfort.
  • Imaging & Equipment Operation
    • Operate advanced imaging systems (e.g., fluoroscopy, C-Arm, angiography) for both neuro-interventional and vascular IR procedures.
    • Adjust imaging settings to capture optimal diagnostic images while minimizing radiation exposure.
    • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and ensure all equipment is functioning before and during procedures.
  • Procedure Assistance
    • Assist physicians with neuro-interventional, vascular and interventional radiology (IR) procedures by providing necessary tools, instruments, and contrast.
    • Maintain sterile fields and handle instruments with adherence to infection control protocols.
    • Monitor patient vital signs during procedures and intervene as needed, assisting in emergency situations.
    • Support catheter-based procedures, biopsies, stent placements, embolizations, and more.
  • Post-Procedure Care
    • Monitor and assist with patient recovery following procedures.
    • Provide post-procedural instructions and ensure patients understand their care plan.
    • Address any complications or concerns as they arise, working in tandem with the medical team.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Follow radiation safety guidelines and hospital protocols to ensure patient and staff safety.
    • Maintain infection control standards and follow appropriate protocols for sterile environments.
    • Accurately document procedures, imaging results, and any necessary follow-up information in the medical records.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care and optimal patient outcomes.
    • Effectively communicate with patients and family members to alleviate concerns and ensure a smooth procedural experience.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to enhance patient care and streamline operations.

    Qualifications

    • Education & Certifications
      • Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
      • ARRT certification in Radiography required; CI/NIR (Neuro Interventional Radiography) certification preferred or must be obtained.
      • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
      • Vascular Interventional Radiography (VIR) certification or experience preferred.
    • Experience
      • Minimum 2 years of experience in neuro-interventional, vascular IR, or radiology settings preferred.
      • Proficiency in operating imaging equipment for both neurovascular and vascular IR procedures.
      • Experience in assisting with catheter-based interventions, stent placements, and other complex IR procedures.
    • Skills
      • Knowledge of neurovascular and vascular anatomy and pathology.
      • Strong technical and clinical skills in radiologic imaging and patient care.
      • Ability to handle high-stress situations and work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team environment.
      • Excellent communication skills, particularly when interacting with patients and the medical team.
    • Physical Demands
      • Ability to assist in positioning and lifting patients (up to 50 lbs).
      • Stamina to stand and assist in procedures for extended periods.
      • Ability to work with heavy or complex imaging equipment.
