Interventional Radiology Tech - $40,000 Sign On Bonus

About the Role

Under the supervision of the Interventional Radiology Manager and/or Assistant Chief Technologist, performs a wide variety of technical and professional duties utilizing complex imaging equipment to produce quality IR images as requested for subsequent interpretation by the radiologist. Promotes service excellence in all interactions.

Responsibilities

• Performs a wide variety of technical duties to ensure proper performance of imaging procedures utilizing angiography and other equipment, including setting up angiographic equipment and selecting the correct accession number from the modality work list.
• Produces high-quality images during and after procedures to ensure proper anatomy is recorded for physicians to make a diagnosis, verifying physician orders on requisitions 100% of the time.
• Ensures all supplies required for individual procedures are available prior to and during exams to maximize patient safety and service efficiency, supplying physicians with all necessary disposable or other equipment.
• Performs clerical and record-keeping functions using HIS, RIS, PACS, and procedure QA modules to maintain integrity and completeness of patient records and billing, ensuring all cases are properly scheduled, started, and completed in the RIS in a timely manner.
• Maintains a respectful and professional attitude with staff to ensure smooth operations, recognizing and performing duties to maximize team effort and patient throughput (e.g., room prep, restocking supplies, assisting others).
• Provides quality and compassionate patient care using appropriate age-specific standards, ensuring patient cooperation, safety, and satisfaction by greeting patients and introducing self and others.
• Utilizes proper safety measures during procedures for all people present in the room, including wearing a lead apron during fluoroscopy to minimize physical risk.
• Participates in teaching and learning opportunities to expand personal knowledge and assist others, including being receptive to teaching new technologists, residents, and student technologists.

Requirements

• Graduation from an A.M.A. approved Radiologic Technology program (AS degree required, BS degree preferred).
• Demonstrated technical skills in routine IR imaging techniques and/or experience in complex diagnostic studies such as myelography, venography, or biopsies.
• At least 1 year of experience in a hospital radiology department (1-2 years preferred). Experience in O.R., biopsies, or other invasive procedures is desirable. Consideration given to new graduates of accredited Special Procedures programs.
• Cardiovascular Interventional experience preferred.
• RT(R) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (may not be on probation). Vascular Interventional (VI) credentials preferred.
• Connecticut State License and CPR Certification.
• 1-3 years of recent X-ray technologist experience (IR experience preferred).

Skills

• Proficient in routine IR imaging techniques.
• Above-average knowledge of computer/PACS applications.
• Good organizational and communication/customer service skills.
• Extensive understanding of anatomy and physiology.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift 40 pounds to assist with patient transfers.
• Must be able to stand and wear a lead apron for extended periods.
• Must be available for scheduled on-call assignments within 30 minutes.
