Interventional Radiology Advanced Practice Provider - North

About the role

We're looking for an Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) who will work in accordance with the Radiologists to provide exceptional patient care and assist in the day-to-day clinical operations. This position primarily supports the northern Atrium Health facilities (Cabarrus, University & Lake Norman).

The APP interprets information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to age-specific needs and involves other care partners (radiologist, referring providers, staff support) as needed to ensure the appropriate provision of clinical services.

Responsibilities

• Perform procedures under general and proximate supervision and E&M within the scope of practice of a radiology APP as outlined on the delineation of privileges.
• Assist with training of new APP hires, including clinical responsibilities and procedural skillset.
• Participate, collaborate, and actively engage with APP administration, radiologists, and hospital staff to achieve goals and mutually beneficial outcomes.
• Manage complex patients through advanced decision-making, interpretation of laboratory values, assessment of radiological studies, clinical evaluations, and procedures.
• Perform initial consultation, follow-up visits, hospital rounds, and obtain the majority of H&P for all radiology procedures.
• Serve as an educational and clinical resource to staff, patients, and their families.
• Assist with formulation of policies and protocols related to APP team and clinical workflow based on established guidelines.
• Participate in research initiatives for protocol development and/or data analysis.
• Assume responsibility and accountability for organizing time and workload to manage all service lines.
• Assume other duties as assigned by the Operations Committee.

Requirements

• Graduate-level education.
• Advanced Practice Provider Certification by the NCCPA.
• ACLS, BLS, PALS certifications.
• NCMB and DEA licensure permitting treatment of all ages.
• 1-3 years’ experience in surgery, trauma, critical care, vascular, or experience with clinical procedures and inpatient/outpatient consultations preferred.
• At least 2 years of direct clinical experience.
• Knowledge of company and compliance policies and clinical procedures.
• Effective utilization of clinical equipment, including US/Fluoro/CT.
• Proficient with EMR and dictation systems.
• Analytic ability to evaluate and determine health status of patients and implement a plan of care.
• Ability to perform procedures requiring fine motor skills, including repetitive hand work.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.
• Apply critical-thinking and problem-solving skills to function effectively and adapt to a dynamic and often changing work environment, including multiple hospital facilities.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Full day of walking and standing.
• Lifting up to 25 lbs.
• Work in radiology departments and outpatient clinics located within hospitals, including potential work at outpatient centers.
• Exposure to radiation, infectious disease, contaminated equipment, and chemical hazards.
