About the role

Step into a thriving, high-volume clinical Interventional Radiology (IR) practice at Ascension’s flagship hospital in Indiana. We are seeking a dynamic physician to join our specialized team delivering cutting-edge, minimally invasive care across both inpatient and outpatient settings. This is a 100% clinical IR role with zero diagnostic radiology reading responsibilities.

Join an established team of 5 physicians and 6 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). Call structure is every 5th day for primary call and every 20th day for backup to vascular surgery for non-vascular cases. This is an employed position within a nonprofit health system.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver compassionate medical care and treatment to patients within the assigned clinical area.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients utilizing advanced clinical judgment and evidence-based practices.
  • Lead the comprehensive hospital thrombosis service line (PE, DVT, PV) and run a robust Critical Limb Ischemia (CLI) service closely aligned with podiatry and vascular surgery.
  • Perform advanced interventional oncology procedures using state-of-the-art technology, including Histotripsy (exclusive to Indianapolis), IRE, MWA, Cryoablation, SIR-Spheres, and TheraSphere.
  • Serve as the core IR provider for the Vascular Malformation Clinic and the Center of Excellence for Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT), in partnership with the globally recognized Center for Innovative Hematology.
  • Perform complex portal venous and biliary interventions, including SpyGlass, biliary ablations, ICE for PV recanalizations (acute and chronic), and routine TIPS.
  • Engage in a high-end, complex case mix across multiple specialized service lines.
  • Expand practice footprint in a newly opened Office-Based Lab (OBL), providing a streamlined, patient-centric outpatient experience.

  • Unmatched clinical and administrative support: 4 highly skilled APPs manage daily rounding, clinic flow, and minor vascular/non-vascular interventions.
  • 4 full-time dedicated nurses handle procedural scheduling, patient calls, and follow-ups.
  • Elite team structure: Collaborate with 4 Interventional Radiologists and 1 Vascular Surgeon in a shared productivity model with vascular surgery.
  • Open-door policy fosters constant, collegiate collaboration with specialists across Surgery, Urology, Oncology, GI, Pulmonary, Cardiology, and Cardiothoracic.

Requirements

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Interventional Radiology.
  • Fellowship training in Interventional Radiology.
  • Eligible for Indiana state medical licensure and DEA registration.
  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date.
  • Advanced Life Support preferred (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
