About the Role

Our hospital-employed group provides inpatient services at LifeBridge Health's Sinai Hospital, a 500+ bed facility, and outpatient services for the surrounding community in northern Baltimore. The practice includes inpatient transfers and outpatient referrals of more complex GI patients from affiliated facilities, including requests for advanced endoscopic procedures.

You will join Sinai Gastroenterology Associates, a team of 4 Gastroenterologists, 3 Nurse Practitioners, and 2 Physician Assistants, with phenomenal support staff. Call coverage is rotation-based with excess pay, covering only one hospital. Onsite lab services and Cerner EMR are available.

This role offers the opportunity to participate in and mentor medical students and residents in clinical and quality improvement research projects through Sinai's freestanding Internal Medicine Residency Program. Onsite nursing and APP support is provided.

Responsibilities

  • Examine, diagnose, and treat or recommend courses of treatment for patients with disorders of the gastroenterological, hepatic, biliary, and pancreatic systems in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Provide inpatient consults on a rotating basis and supervise residents and medical students.
  • Advise, order, and perform appropriate tests, interpreting results as needed.
  • Conduct follow-up appointments, monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans and medications, update patient records, and make referrals.
  • Remain current on best practices, developments, trends, research, and technology in gastroenterology.
  • Clinically supervise inpatient PAs when on call.
  • Participate in peer review, quality assurance, provider meetings, and other clinical meetings.

Requirements

  • MD from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Eligibility or Board Certification in Gastroenterology with successful completion of a formal GI fellowship program.
  • Possession of or eligibility for a Maryland Medical License without restrictions.
  • Current CDS license and DEA certificate.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Proficiency in EGD/colonoscopy and interventional EUS/ERCP.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
