About the role

Birch Agency is seeking a passionate and dedicated Intervention Specialist to support students in a K–8 public charter school located in Cleveland, Ohio. This is an on-site, full-time contract position for a special education professional committed to helping students reach their academic, social, and personal goals in a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The school serves a diverse community with many Spanish-speaking families; Spanish language skills are welcomed but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans to support student success.
  • Provide specialized instruction and targeted interventions based on individual student needs.
  • Deliver differentiated instruction that supports a wide range of learning styles, abilities, and developmental levels.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments to ensure students have access to meaningful learning opportunities.
  • Monitor student progress through data collection and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
  • Support students' academic achievement, social-emotional development, and independence.
  • Maintain accurate documentation while ensuring compliance with special education requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist teaching license/certification.
  • Experience working as an Intervention Specialist, Special Education Teacher, or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of special education practices, child development, and instructional methodologies.
  • Ability to create positive relationships with students and provide individualized support.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
  • Understanding of classroom safety procedures and educational best practices.
  • Patient, adaptable, and student-centered approach.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting students with disabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Spanish language skills.
