General Scope of Responsibilities
- Provide appropriate school-based services to students enrolled in the LEARN Special Education Programs.
- Implement all strategies utilized in the overall curriculum plan, as based on the IEP, related to inclusion as appropriate, individual work in a school setting, including collecting and monitoring data, interpreting the data in conjunction with LEARN staff, and modifying the program as needed for each child.
- Demonstrate program interventions to inclusion setting staff and assist in their training as needed.
- Prepare instructional setting and materials for student programs.
- Supervise and assist students in all settings specified on their educational plan.
- Collaborate on all aspects of the student’s program with inclusion setting staff when appropriate and LEARN staff.
- Establish as fully as possible a supportive relationship with the student(s) while maintaining the role as an authority figure.
- Aid in student toileting, feeding, and any other health responsibilities.
- Pass competencies and utilize approved de-escalation and restraint procedures.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. when necessary.
- Utilize Program Change procedures including communication with teacher and BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) regarding special information about individual students (as needed).
- Implement behavior change programs as written in all areas of student need including educational and behavioral programs.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students/staff.
- Be punctual and consistent in meeting daily time schedules throughout the school year.
- Work effectively and cooperatively with other staff members/families.
- Participate in professional development activities and demonstrate competencies related to training.
- Attend team and staff meetings as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as appropriately assigned by the Student Support Services Administration.
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements
- Earned a secondary school diploma, or its equivalent.
- Must have earned an Associate’s Degree (or higher), OR Achieve at least a score of 457 on the ETS ParaPro Assessment.
- Experience working with children with autism or emotional/behavioral challenges and their families preferred.
