Intervention Aide - Credit Recovery

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of 48 credit hours from an accredited institution of higher education
• Possession of an associate (or higher) degree
• Passing score on the paraprofessional assessment
• Must qualify for the required paraprofessional certificate (Educational Aide I)
• Experience working with students or parents as approved by the employing superintendent

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Ability to work with students with disabilities
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents orally and in writing
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to use basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office Software
• Ability to navigate the Credit Recovery Instructional Program
• Bilingual (Preferred)

Major Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide targeted instruction and classroom support to students under the direction of a teacher
• Work closely with campus teachers to address the needs of students
• Cookordinate with the school counselor on credit recovery classes
• Aid in the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
• Help maintain a neat and orderly computer lab
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
• Provide instructions to substitute, if absent
• Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the computer lab
• Make teacher or school counselor aware of special needs or problems of individual students

Other

• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance
• Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned
• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
