Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of 48 credit hours from an accredited institution of higher education
- Possession of an associate (or higher) degree
- Passing score on the paraprofessional assessment
- Must qualify for the required paraprofessional certificate (Educational Aide I)
- Experience working with students or parents as approved by the employing superintendent
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Ability to work with students with disabilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents orally and in writing
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office Software
- Ability to navigate the Credit Recovery Instructional Program
- Bilingual (Preferred)
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide targeted instruction and classroom support to students under the direction of a teacher
- Work closely with campus teachers to address the needs of students
- Cookordinate with the school counselor on credit recovery classes
- Aid in the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
- Help maintain a neat and orderly computer lab
- Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment
- Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
- Provide instructions to substitute, if absent
- Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the computer lab
- Make teacher or school counselor aware of special needs or problems of individual students
Other
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance
- Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
