About the role

The North Carolina Child Support Services Program operates under Public Law 93-647, NC General Statutes 110-128-143 and Title IV-D State Plan. The unit consists of the Central Registry and the State Parent Locate Service Unit, responsible for child support enforcement activities such as location, establishment of paternity and child support, enforcement and collections.

Responsibilities

  • Locate non-custodial parents through evaluation of information from various states, internet resources, and state and federal databases.
  • Provide assistance to state, local staff, other states, and other NC DSS departments in locating non-custodial parents for the establishment and/or enforcement of child support orders.
  • Refer cases to the Federal Parent Locator Service to obtain records on non-custodial parents from various locate databases.
  • Obtain records from various state agencies to assist in location efforts.
  • Track and handle Affidavits of Parentage received from NC birthing facilities.
  • Handle referrals for federal criminal prosecution Project Save Our Children from local CSS Offices.
  • Referrals from other state CSS offices for withholding of NC unemployment insurance benefits.

Skills

Experience in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, Attention to Detail, Excellent communication skills- oral and written, Accuracy in Data Entry.

Pay

Salary Range: $39,244 - $68,679 Recruitment Range: $39,244 - $41,206
