Interpreter - Spanish

About the role

Texas Children’s is seeking an Interpreter - Spanish to join our team. This role is part of the best-ranked children’s hospital in Texas and among the best in the nation.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting and translation services for domestic and international patients in inpatient, outpatient, day surgery, and emergency center settings.
• Interpret clinical and health care related discussions involving staff, patients, families, and physicians.
• Respond to interpreting assignments promptly and professionally.
• Maintain proper medical terminology vocabulary and fluency in both English and Spanish.
• Facilitate information exchange without editorializing and adhere to a code of professional ethics.
• Deliver video remote interpreting (VRI) devices to units/clinics as needed and provide instruction on their use.
• Provide telephone interpreting services.
• Offer written translation services following established rules for word meaning, grammar, and sentence structure.
• Perform departmental duties as assigned.
• Support the international patient program.

Requirements

• H.S. Diploma or GED
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• 2 years related healthcare experience required
• 2 years healthcare interpreter experience preferred

• Professional ethics adherence
