Internship - Wildlife Care

About the role

The Texas State Aquarium provides high quality, entertaining programming through education, conservation, and wildlife rehabilitation. This internship will have a strong focus on understanding wildlife husbandry, as well as an introduction to wildlife medicine.

Responsibilities

• Diet Preparation
• Feeding
• Medical Care
• Enclosure Maintenance
• Participation in rescues and releases

Requirements

• Degree Type Preferred: Marine Biology, Biology, Marine Science, Ecology, or a strong interest in veterinary medicine, or similar degree
• Hours per week: 20-30/week
• Duration: 10-12 weeks
• Individuals should be enrolled in a college or university at a Junior or Senior level with good academic standing and valid driver's license.
• Must be able to work outdoors and in inclement weather, as well as in confined spaces and around loud noises.
• Must be able to lift at least 40lbs, and be able to climb stairs and ladders.
