About the role
The Texas State Aquarium provides high quality, entertaining programming through education, conservation, and wildlife rehabilitation. This internship will have a strong focus on understanding wildlife husbandry, as well as an introduction to wildlife medicine.
Responsibilities
- Diet Preparation
- Feeding
- Medical Care
- Enclosure Maintenance
- Participation in rescues and releases
Requirements
- Degree Type Preferred: Marine Biology, Biology, Marine Science, Ecology, or a strong interest in veterinary medicine, or similar degree
- Hours per week: 20-30/week
- Duration: 10-12 weeks
- Individuals should be enrolled in a college or university at a Junior or Senior level with good academic standing and valid driver's license.
- Must be able to work outdoors and in inclement weather, as well as in confined spaces and around loud noises.
- Must be able to lift at least 40lbs, and be able to climb stairs and ladders.
