About the role
The MSP Cyber Section’s Computer Crimes Unit (CCU) offices in Bridgeport are seeking digital forensics and criminal justice students enrolled in a post-secondary educational program.
Responsibilities
- Investigate support in the seizure, acquisition, and analysis of digital evidence including digital device forensic examinations for the law enforcement community.
- Oversight over the statewide Michigan Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
- Participate in criminal investigations involving digital evidence.
- Learn about the forensic capture and analysis process for digital evidence.
- Analyze and compile data into formats needed for investigative tasks.
- Utilize specialized forensic software and equipment to support investigative actions.
- Prepare forensics reports regarding analyzed evidence.
- Provide educational training to end users on cyber security related topics.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age.
- Be continuously enrolled in a digital forensics program at a post-secondary educational institution (with a minimum of six credit hours per term or semester).
- Have a valid operator’s license.
- Pass a fingerprint-based “Criminal Justice Information Systems” background check.

Selected students will have the opportunity to:
- Exposure to material that may be inappropriate, offensive, and sexual in nature.
Pay
This internship is unpaid.
Schedule
The internship is approximately 10-20 hours per week, for approximately 12 weeks, with start and end dates to be determined by the requirements of the selected individual’s educational institution.
