About the role
The position is expected to start August or September 2026 and continue through fall term (ending approximately December 2026) or continuing into Winter/Spring 2027 if available and there is an opportunity to do so. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships.
Responsibilities
- Interface with key leaders of components spanning all Tesla products including energy, autopilot, robot, powertrain and vehicle controls, and service
- Develop code generators for highly efficient embedded code and work with component teams to integrate with their microcontrollers
- Advance our developer tooling to scale up with the rapidly increasing number of products and variants
- Identify opportunities to improve organizational efficiency and reduce cost
- Design, develop and deploy tools and services to augment the development process
Requirements
- Currently working towards a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field of study with a graduation date between December 2026 – December 2027
- Rust experience
- Python experience
- Excitement to develop internal tools
- Experience in data structures and algorithms
- A demonstrated understanding of system design principles including scalability and maintainability
- The ability to write clean, well-documented code and debug for performance and reliability
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
- Autonomy and resourcefulness to drive solutions from initially ambiguous requirements

Pay
Expected Compensation $42.07 - $58.89/hour + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
