Internship, Software Engineer, Information Security (Spring 2027)

About the role

The position is expected to start January 2027 and continue through fall term (ending approximately April 2027 or later, if available). Applicants must commit to a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain secure, scalable ETL pipelines to process high-volume data
• Implement efficient data ingestion, transformation, and storage processes using Apache Airflow, Apache Spark, or equivalent frameworks
• Implement robust failure recovery mechanisms and alerting for pipeline reliability
• Optimize Spark jobs for low latency and high throughput in processing data
• Design, develop, and maintain secure and scalable REST APIs using Python frameworks (e.g., Flask, Fast API) or Java frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot)
• Work in a DevOps-driven environment, implementing CI/CD pipelines for ETL workflows and API deployments

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field of study with a graduation date between 2027-2028
• Able to relocate and work onsite in Bellevue, WA
• Proficient in at least two general programming languages such as Python and Java
• Proven expertise in architecting data pipelines
• Hands-on mastery of Apache Spark, Airflow, Apache Iceberg/delta lake
• Hands-on mastery in REST API development using technologies like spring boot or fast
• Adaptable & collaborative mindset
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills

Qualifications

• Experience with secure REST API development using Python or Java

Pay

Expected Compensation $38.00 - $50.00/hour + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
