Opportunity Summary

Interns work hours corresponding to school hours, ranging from 7am-4pm, with occasional evening hours for family sessions. The internship typically runs from September through April but may extend into summer.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Current Student of an accredited Masters of Social Work or Masters of Counseling program
  • Masters or doctoral level student
  • Student must be enrolled at an academic institution with an existing contract with Sheppard Pratt
  • Strong foundation in child/adolescent mental health theory, clinical reasoning, evidence-based practice, group theory, and staff/client/caregiver education

Learning Model

  • Supervision provided in a 1:1 model by a Licensed Certified Social Worker or Clinical/Licensed Certified Professional Counselor once a week
  • Task supervision by a licensed masters level social worker or counselor on-site daily
  • Group supervision and training opportunities bi-monthly

Student Tasks

  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy

  • Work with school counselors on needs assessments to determine services provided by the program
