About the role

Dragon Q Energy was founded in 2022 on the premise that energy storage should be safer, more resilient, and adaptable to the world's toughest challenges. Our core technology—an underground, hermetic and inert battery system with geothermal cooling—delivers unparalleled durability, security, and efficiency. We've since applied that same groundbreaking technology to a new line of high-performance supercapacitor systems, delivering ultra-fast, high-density power with the same resilience and durability our batteries are known for. Building on both platforms, we're now engineering purpose-built data center architecture designed for zero-compromise uptime, participating in the NVIDIA Inception program to design our DQE PowrTrain™ systems—delivering 100% uptime power for the data centers driving the next generation of computing. Whether integrated into our PowerPole™ for off-grid power, scaled into PowrTrain™-powered data centers, or deployed for military bases and critical infrastructure, our energy solutions redefine what's possible in extreme environments. We're building the future of energy—secure, scalable, and built to last.

What You’ll Do

  • Working alongside the lead mechanical engineer on designing, developing, and refining the PowerPole™, SINISTER Supercapacitor system, and related energy storage products from concept through production.
  • Bridging engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, ensuring that energy systems meet rigorous safety, efficiency, and reliability standards for deployment in demanding environments such as disaster relief, remote electrification, data centers, and critical infrastructure.

What You’ll Bring

  • Currently pursuing a Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, having completed at least one year of coursework.
  • Technical experience through extracurricular activities, passion projects, or similar experiences.
  • Design experience with CAD software such as SOLIDWORKS, or Autodesk Inventor.
  • Excellent grasp of engineering fundamentals with experience using hand tools, power supplies, multimeters, and reading drawings.
  • Eagerness to collaborate cross-functionally with other engineering teams, while working independently to drive projects forwards.
  • Basic knowledge of circuit diagrams and simple electrical systems.
  • Proven interest in sustainable energy and/or data center engineering, through extracurricular activities, passion projects, or similar experiences (preferred).

What is Expected

  • Duration: One academic quarter, with the opportunity to extend based on performance and team fit.
  • Compensation: $20-$25 per hour. Minimum 10hrs a week, with flexibility towards academic circumstances (Exams).
