About the role
We are looking for an IT Business Analyst Intern to join our team in Muscatine, Iowa during Summer 2027. HNI's summer internship program offers first-hand experience in your field of interest through projects that support the technology platforms, systems, and tools powering collaboration, productivity, and business operations across HNI.
This paid internship includes exposure to leadership, professional development opportunities (Lunch and Learns, training, skill-building workshops), support through a mentor relationship, volunteering, and social events. Company-paid apartment-style housing may be available based on geographic need and current capacity.
Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand business needs, challenges, and opportunities
- Gather, document, and analyze business requirements for technology solutions
- Assist with process mapping and identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
- Support project teams with testing, user acceptance activities, training, and implementation efforts
- Develop reports, dashboards, presentations, and other materials to support business decision-making
- Collaborate with technical teams to translate business requirements into actionable solutions
- Participate in projects focused on operational efficiency, data insights, and business transformation initiatives
Requirements
- Working towards a BA or MBA with a major in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, MIS, or equivalent field
- Junior-level coursework preferred
- Minimum 2.8 GPA
- Relevant technical coursework, certifications, internships, campus involvement, or experience supporting technology solutions is a plus
- Not accepting candidates who require company sponsorship to legally work in the United States
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Comfortable leading discussions, asking questions, and building relationships across teams
- Self-starter with high personal motivation and desire to take initiative and ownership
