About the Role

Young Life Military is looking for those with a heart to serve and a desire to grow in their walks with Christ. This long-term internship offers the opportunity to serve either in the United States or in Europe under the guidance of an experienced Young Life Military/Club Beyond staff person. Interns assist with various aspects of ministry, including camps, clubs, Bible studies, and relational outreach to military teens. The goal is to create a community where teens experience God’s love, build resiliency, and develop meaningful connections.

You will have the opportunity to lead and oversee the overall Young Life Military program, known as Club Beyond, which is ecumenically focused and outreach-oriented. This ministry operates on military installations worldwide, providing a safe space for teens to grow spiritually and relationally.

Responsibilities

  • Training: Meet weekly with supervising staff using Club Beyond team agenda tools.
  • Direct Ministry: Participate in leadership with a team to conduct Club Beyond club and small group ministry to teens with excellence.
  • Spiritual Development: Develop a 90-day personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life, including solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer, and Bible study. Attend Chapel on installation as often as you are in community.
  • Leadership Development: Attend volunteer leader meetings. Meet weekly with one volunteer to discuss their involvement in Club Beyond. Learn how to recruit, train, and build a diverse leadership team.
  • Resource Development: Discuss financial support with your supervisor, including benefits and challenges. Communicate monthly updates with personal donor partners.
  • Role Modeling: Engage in incarnational/relational ministry, develop community outreach to unchurched teens, disciple believing teens, and equip volunteers for hands-on youth ministry.
  • Cultural Respect: Embrace and respect a community deeply influenced by military culture.
  • Core Values: Live out the Club Beyond Core Value Statement, which emphasizes a Christ-centered, ecumenical, and professional approach to ministry.

Requirements

  • Graduated high school at least 2 years prior.
  • A deep love for Christ and for lost teens.
  • Competent communicator with a teachable heart.
  • Willingness to raise part of the budget through personal support.
  • Committed to a relational ministry approach.
  • Energetic with strong initiative and small event planning skills.
  • Must live near the community where ministry will take place.

Pay

This is a paid internship program. Each applicant is responsible for raising the salary needed to participate, with a minimum of $1,160 to a maximum of $4,000, depending on location and duration of service.
