Internship in Portfolio Management (Undergraduate & Master's)
About the Program
Dimensional Fund Advisors is seeking undergraduate or graduate-level students actively pursuing a degree to join our 2027 summer internship program. This 9-week, fully in-person program will expose interns to the day-to-day activities of an Analyst in Portfolio Management.
The Portfolio Management team is responsible for the implementation of Dimensional’s investment philosophy. Portfolios are structured to target sources of higher expected return that have been identified and vetted by academia and Dimensional’s research team. The team oversees the daily management of Dimensional’s portfolios and implements our investment philosophy across all investment solutions through a systematic portfolio management process.
Portfolio managers interact with current and prospective clients and collaborate closely with departments including Trading, Research, Technology, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and the Global Client Group to ensure a superior investment experience.
Responsibilities
- Work on extensive projects that improve the implementation of investment strategies, collaborating with Portfolio Managers to make data-informed enhancements.
- Present project findings to senior management.
- Take on responsibilities similar to full-time analysts, supporting the daily needs of the Portfolio Management strategy desks and broader investment team.
Qualifications
- Minimum GPA of 3.2; pursuing an undergraduate or specialized Master’s degree with an expected graduation date of December 2027 - June 2028.
- Interest in financial markets and passion for improving the investment experience.
- Excellent quantitative problem-solving and analytic skills.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Detail-oriented, organized, highly motivated, and able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Self-starter who can manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Excel.
- Knowledge of databases (MS Access, SQL) preferred.
- Knowledge of Python preferred.
- Ability to absorb and apply information from formal and informal learning experiences.
