About Revel At Revel, we are revolutionizing the way the world’s most critical hardware is controlled—across aerospace, automotive, energy, and manufacturing sectors. Our next-generation software stack combines an intuitive command/control interface, a specialized programming language tailored for hardware control, and a high-performance runtime environment. We empower engineers to build, test, and deploy critical systems rapidly, reliably, and safely. The Internship As a Forward Deployed Test Engineering Intern at Revel, you’ll work at the intersection of software, hardware, and testing to help our customers build and operate better test systems. You’ll work alongside our Forward Deployed Engineering and Software teams to integrate Revel with customer test stands, build test infrastructure, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, develop dashboards and workflows, and help engineering teams get more out of their test operations. You’ll get hands-on exposure to the systems behind aerospace, defense, automotive, energy, and advanced manufacturing. You’ll learn how software, hardware, sensors, data acquisition systems, and test infrastructure come together in real-world environments—and how to diagnose problems when things don't work as expected. This is a highly technical, hands-on internship. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers, take ownership of meaningful projects, and have the opportunity to see your work used with real hardware. What You'll Do Help deploy and integrate Revel with customer test stands, sensors, actuators, and existing infrastructureWork alongside customer engineering teams to understand their test processes and identify opportunities to improve themBuild and maintain test infrastructure, dashboards, and software workflowsWrite RevelCode and other software to automate and streamline testingSupport data acquisition, telemetry, and hardware validation effortsTroubleshoot issues across software, networking, firmware, hardware, and physical test systemsHelp run and support test campaigns in real-world hardware environmentsDeliver training and documentation to help new users get up and running with RevelCollaborate with internal software and product teams to turn field learnings into product improvementsOccasionally travel to customer sites with the team What We're Looking For Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical fieldRising Junior or Senior graduating in 2027 or 2028Hands-on experience with engineering projects involving hardware, software, testing, or instrumentationStrong problem-solving and debugging skillsBasic programming experience in Python, C, C++, or another programming languageBasic understanding of how software, hardware, sensors, and networks interactInterest in test engineering, embedded systems, robotics, aerospace, automotive, or other hardware-focused environmentsComfortable getting hands-on with physical hardware and troubleshooting problems in real-world environmentsStrong written and verbal communication skillsCurious, self-directed, and excited to learn from experienced engineersComfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environmentUS citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee (ITAR requirement) Bonus Points Experience with data acquisition systems, test stands, instrumentation, or test automationExperience with sensors, actuators, oscilloscopes, multimeters, or other test equipmentExperience with PLCs, control systems, NI software suite, TwinCAT, or CodeSysExperience building or maintaining test infrastructure through academic, personal, or previous internship projectsExperience with embedded systems, robotics, aerospace, automotive, or other hardware-focused projectsProficiency in C, C++, Python, Rust, or other systems programming languagesFamiliarity with networking and debugging communication between hardware and softwareStartup experience and passion for aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, or robotics Why Revel Work on hardware that matters — our customers are building aerospace systems, advanced manufacturing lines, and critical infrastructureBuild and test real things — work directly with the hardware and systems used in real-world engineering environmentsLearn from exceptional engineers — work closely with experienced Forward Deployed, Test, and Software EngineersGet customer exposure — see firsthand how engineering teams design, test, and operate complex hardwareOwn meaningful projects — take responsibility for projects that directly impact our customers and productGrow quickly — work in a small, ambitious team where your contributions are visible Internship Details Program: Summer 2027 InternshipDuration: June - August 2027Type: Summer, paid internshipLocation: Los Angeles or San FranciscoWork environment: On-siteTravel: Occasional travel to customer sites may be required Join us to redefine what’s possible in software for hardware.
