Internship – Finance Internal Controls

About the Role

American National Insurance Company’s 2027 Summer Internship Program runs from Monday, May 24th to Friday, August 6th (optional extension to August 13th). Interns work full‑time (Monday‑Friday, 37.5 hours per week) and are paid hourly. The Finance – Technology and Data Analytics internship is located in League City, Texas (Marina Plaza) and supports the Finance Internal Control team, which focuses on ICFR/SOX compliance, risk assessment, data analytics, and technology‑enabled auditing.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

• Enrolled in an accredited college or university, junior standing or higher by the start of the internship (May 2027 graduates welcome)
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
• Available to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, onsite at the posted location

Responsibilities

• Support ICFR/SOX testing by reviewing documentation and control evidence
• Document testing results and identify opportunities for process improvement
• Participate in process walkthroughs with business and technology partners
• Evaluate financial, IT‑dependent, and automated controls
• Assist with data analytics and internal audit projects

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Accounting or a related business discipline
• Interest in internal audit, ICFR/SOX compliance, or IT audit
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Curiosity about data analytics, IT systems, and automated controls
