About the role

Baird’s Operations Department (“Ops”) is the best kept secret in the financial services industry and plays a critical role in the success and growth of the firm. They partner with different business and functional areas within Baird with the goal of driving efficiencies and reducing risk to the firm. The Commissions and Advisory Billing team supports both advisory and brokerage business, managing the processes that ensure advisors are compensated accurately and timely.

This internship requires working full time during the summer (37.5–40 hours per week, Monday–Friday) and part time during the school semesters (15–20 hours per week) in our downtown Louisville, KY office. We are seeking a local student who can start in January 2027 or earlier.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with processing commissions statements
  • Use technology tools to build process automation and improve commissions processes
  • Work with financial services operational systems and technology
  • Participate in daily team meetings and collaborate across the firm to help ensure highly efficient customer service
  • Work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Receive firsthand mentoring and training

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, business analytics, economics, information technology management, information systems, or related degree
  • Anticipated graduation date of May 2028 or later
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and manage priorities to meet specific deadlines
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with a high attention to detail
  • Strong client service, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills
  • Interest in technology such as coding (e.g., SQL, VBA) and visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI) is a plus
