About the role

Herzog Contracting Corp. is now accepting general Internship applications. The program is an immersive professional development journey where interns are placed into specialized cohorts based on their discipline and paired with an experienced mentor.

Responsibilities

• Gain experience in financial reporting, budgeting, invoice processing, job costing, and auditing procedures in the Accounting (St. Joseph, MO) position.
• Work alongside experienced Ballast Systems Specialists using innovative technology to support ballast maintenance operations for Class I Railroads across the United States in the Ballast Systems Specialist (Nationwide Travel) position.
• Support Herzog’s in-house creative team with graphic design, photography, video editing, branding, and marketing content creation in the Creative Services (St. Joseph, MO) position.
• Assist with energy management, power systems, or sustainable infrastructure projects in the Energy (Nationwide Projects and St. Joseph, MO) position.
• Learn how cost estimates are developed for large construction and rail projects in the Estimating (St. Joseph, MO) position.
• Work directly on job sites alongside experienced engineers, gaining hands-on exposure to large-scale rail construction and infrastructure projects in the Field Engineers (Nationwide Projects) position.
• Join the team responsible for crafting compelling business proposals to help Herzog secure new construction and rail projects in the Proposals (St. Joseph, MO) position.
• Work alongside Quality Managers and Inspectors to ensure Herzog projects meet contract and safety standards in the Quality (Nationwide Projects) position.
• Work in Herzog’s innovation hub helping to test, improve, and develop cutting-edge tools and processes used in the rail industry in the Research & Development (St. Joseph, MO) position.
• Join our safety teams in the field to help maintain and support Herzog’s culture of “Safety Without Compromise” in the Safety (Nationwide Projects) position.
• Work on internal software solutions and applications in the Software (St. Joseph, MO and Fort Worth, TX) position.
• This full-time, traveling internship is ideal for students pursuing heavy equipment operations or attending a technical school in the Specialized Equipment Operator (Nationwide Travel) position.
• Support Herzog’s software development initiatives by bridging technology teams and business needs in the Technical Project Manager (St. Joseph, MO) position.

Qualifications

Interns must be enrolled in a degree-granting program and have completed at least one academic year. Applicants should demonstrate strong academic performance, relevant coursework, and a commitment to professional development. Specific qualifications vary by position but generally require strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Skills
