Responsibilities

• Gain valuable real-world experience by working alongside ALLETE accounting professionals across multiple disciplines, expanding your network and understanding of the field.
• Explore a variety of accounting functions through project-based assignments, including financial statement preparation and reporting, general accounting, accounts payable, budgeting, property accounting, and cash reporting, while developing skills that support future career growth.

Requirements

Must be currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the internship; international students with appropriate U.S. employment authorization (e.g., CPT or OPT) are welcome to apply.

• Basic computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Pay

The expected hourly compensation for this position is $20.50.

Schedule

This internship will be reporting in person to Duluth, MN. The role is expected to begin January 2027. It is part-time during the academic year (10‑20 hours per week) and full-time during the summer. Based on business needs and the intern’s availability, the internship may be extended on a part‑time basis through graduation. ALLETE will comply with college requirements. Hours and duration are subject to change based on company needs.
