About the role

The International Small Cap Research Analyst will work closely with Fidelity's portfolio managers and play a vital role in contributing to our mutual funds’ investment performance. The analyst will be responsible for researching and covering companies within designated sectors of the international small cap universe and developing investment recommendations through deep fundamental analysis. Analysts have full responsibility for coverage of assigned companies, including building financial models, analyzing industry dynamics, assessing valuation opportunities, conducting proprietary research, meeting with company management teams, and communicating investment recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Generate investment ideas through proprietary research, quantitative screens, company meetings, industry conferences, and other research sources.
  • Perform fundamental company, industry, and competitive analysis.
  • Identify underfollowed, misunderstood, or mispriced companies before they become broadly recognized by the market.
  • Create and maintain financial models, valuations, recommendations, and target prices.
  • Communicate investment insights and recommendations with conviction and clarity through discussions, presentations, and written research.
  • Collaborate with analysts and portfolio managers in a high-performing, results-oriented investment environment.

Requirements

  • Multiple years of investment research experience, preferably in international equities, global equities, or small-cap investing.
  • Bachelor's degree required; CFA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated passion for investing, stock picking, and fundamental research.
  • Strong ownership mentality, work ethic, and commitment to investment excellence.
  • Exceptional analytical, financial modeling, and communication skills.
  • Ability to think independently and adapt as new information emerges.
  • Strong business judgment, intellectual curiosity, and pattern recognition abilities.
  • Confidence and maturity to engage with senior management teams.

About the team

Fidelity Investments has long been a leader in managing equity portfolios, with roots dating back to the 1940s. Fidelity’s Equity division is responsible for managing diversified and industry-specific funds for millions of investors. The division consists of portfolio managers, research analysts, research associates, sector specialists, and traders who work together to deliver exceptional investment outcomes. Over the years, its capabilities have grown substantially, with investment strategies designed across style, capitalization, sector, and geography. The Equity team relies on its proprietary research, disciplined portfolio management, and sophisticated trading process to evaluate, construct, and manage investment portfolios and deliver superior long-term results.

Schedule

Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $250,000 per year. Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors. Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
