About the Role

The International Export Coordinator executes Redwood Materials’ outbound international shipments end-to-end, from booking through delivery to the foreign consignee. This role owns the day-to-day mechanics of ocean export from Redwood’s U.S. facilities at the Battery Materials Campus (BMC) to customers across Asia and Europe. The Coordinator works at the intersection of dangerous goods rules, transboundary waste controls, and destination-country import requirements, serving as the operating link between Redwood’s plants, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and international customers.

Responsibilities

  • Book and manage ocean export shipments with freight forwarders and NVOCCs, including rate and space confirmation, drayage, container release, port cut-offs, and vessel schedules.
  • Prepare, verify, and distribute the complete export document set: SLI, invoices, certificate of origin, packing list, ISPM-15 declaration, dangerous goods declaration, and house bill of lading.
  • File Electronic Export Information (EEI) in AES/AESDirect, resolve errors, and maintain USPPI and filer-of-record determinations.
  • Screen parties against denied and restricted lists, escalate potential matches, and ensure compliance with BIS "Know Your Customer" requirements.
  • Apply and verify Schedule B and HTS classifications, prepare origin documentation for preferential claims (USMCA, KORUS FTA).
  • Prepare dangerous goods documentation for lithium battery shipments, confirming packaging, marking, and carrier-specific DG requirements with EHS.
  • Coordinate waste-classified movements under Basel Convention, OECD, and EU WSR with Trade Compliance and customers.
  • Apply Incoterms 2020 rules, confirming cost, risk, insurance, and payment terms with Commercial and Finance.
  • Track shipments, manage exceptions (roll-overs, port congestion, DG holds), and communicate status to stakeholders.
  • Maintain export records per EAR, 19 CFR 163, and Redwood SOPs, ensuring audit-ready files.
  • Review forwarder invoices, identify discrepancies, and reconcile with the Transportation Analyst.
  • Maintain export data in TMS and ERP systems, producing reports on volume, cost, transit performance, and documentation accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, international business, logistics, or related field (equivalent experience considered).
  • 1+ years of international export, freight forwarding, or customs experience, including ocean export documentation preparation.
  • Working knowledge of FTR, EAR, EEI filing, Schedule B, HTS, and Incoterms 2020.
  • IMDG certification or ability to obtain within six months; Class 9 lithium battery shipping experience preferred.
  • Awareness of Basel Convention, OECD, and EU WSR controls preferred.
  • Experience managing freight forwarders, customs brokers, and NVOCCs.
  • Advanced Excel skills and TMS/ERP experience.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Passion for sustainability and the energy transition.
