International Creative Studio Lead
About the role
On the Waymo Marketing team, you will help to connect people with the magic and impact of Waymo's autonomous driving technology. Our team has the unique opportunity to not only grow Waymo's brand from the ground up, but to also build societal acceptance for autonomous driving technology for the first time in history. We build thoughtful marketing strategy, positioning, messaging and creative assets to deliver messages that matter to our audience, communicated through anything from video content, to social media interactions, to immersive physical experiences. We also shape Waymo's go-to-market initiatives, helping to transform Waymo into a thriving business with a growing user base.
In this hybrid role, you will report to a Group Creative Marketing Lead.
Responsibilities
- Pioneer International Brand Creative: Partner with local marketing agencies to translate Waymo’s frontier autonomous driving technology into clear, emotionally resonant, and human-centered campaigns across international markets.
- Direct & Embed with Agency Partners: Partner with world-class international creative agencies, embedding with local teams to co-create campaigns that preserve core brand tenets while unlocking deep cultural resonance.
- Govern Brand Guidelines & Standards: Own visual identity guidelines and verbal brand voice across international channels, providing oversight to prevent brand drift and ensure cross-market consistency.
- Translate Business Briefs into Creative Strategy: Translate complex business objectives and localized audience insights into clear, actionable and compelling briefs for creative teams.
- Architect Repeatable Creative Systems: Architect and optimize modular creative templates and AI-assisted workflows to enable partner agencies to deliver localized creative assets at speed without sacrificing craft.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in copywriting, brand creative, or creative direction, backed by an exceptional portfolio demonstrating both verbal and visual craftsmanship.
- Deep experience creating TV, digital, and experiential campaigns for diverse international audiences and regional consumer behaviors.
- Proven track record of managing and directing top-tier global agencies and production partners to drive creative excellence under aggressive timelines.
- Proven ability to scale creative from massive brand initiatives down to always-on paid social and performance conversion stages.
- Exceptional ability to translate sophisticated emerging technologies into clear, simple, and emotionally resonant consumer messaging.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience expanding and scaling a consumer brand internationally, adapting large-scale marketing campaigns to respect local cultural nuances while maintaining cohesive global standards.
- A proven track record of using creative performance metrics and rapid testing to optimize campaign copy and conversion.
- Masterful stakeholder management skills, with a track record of pitching bold creative directions and resolving conflicting stakeholder visions.
- Advanced fluency with Generative AI and AI-assisted creative tools, utilizing emerging technologies as a strategic multiplier to accelerate creative ideation and production.
- Direct experience or a passionate curiosity for translating autonomous vehicles, robotics, or frontier technologies into understandable and compelling consumer-facing stories.
- Experience collaborating closely with non-marketing partners, including Product, Engineering, and Public Affairs, to align creative work with technical milestones and safety narratives.
Pay
The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is $210,000—$259,000 USD. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
