About the Role

Creative Solutions in Healthcare is seeking an Internal Software and AI Solutions Engineer to modernize critical business systems and develop practical internal technology solutions. A major initial project involves supporting and documenting the legacy EPMS Print Management Solution (built on Microsoft Visual Basic .NET) used by Wes-Tex operations. The engineer will also design and develop a new on-premises Warehouse Management Solution using modern .NET technologies and integrate it safely with EPMS. This hands-on role combines internal software development, system integration, process automation, artificial intelligence, and production application support.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, troubleshoot, and document the existing VB.NET-based EPMS Print Management Solution.
  • Work with printshop employees to understand current workflows, business rules, pain points, and system requirements.
  • Define, design, develop, test, and deploy a new on-premises Warehouse Management Solution.
  • Build internal applications, web interfaces, APIs, background services, scripts, reports, and system integrations using modern .NET and other approved technologies.
  • Design and optimize application data models, SQL queries, stored procedures, and reporting datasets.
  • Develop a safe and supportable method for exchanging information between the new Warehouse Management Solution and EPMS.
  • Maintain existing applications and resolve production, integration, and performance issues.
  • Build business process automations and practical AI-powered features using approved tools and services.
  • Gather requirements, build prototypes, conduct user testing, and document completed solutions.
  • Communicate project progress, risks, technical options, and blockers to the Director of Artificial Intelligence.
  • Follow company standards for security, source control, testing, documentation, change management, backup, and recovery.
  • Travel to company locations throughout Texas for discovery, testing, deployment, training, and onsite support.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in software development, systems integration, business automation, or a related technical role.
  • Proven history of developing applications using C# and modern .NET technologies.
  • Experience working with relational databases, SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, REST APIs, JSON, authentication, and system integrations.
  • Ability to read, understand, troubleshoot, and modify VB.NET code.
  • Exceptional ability to gather requirements from non-technical employees and turn them into working technical solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting, testing, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage moderately complex assignments without requiring step-by-step supervision.
  • Availability to travel within Texas up to 20% of the time, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior work history maintaining or modernizing VB.NET business applications, warehouse management, inventory, ERP, financial, or other operational systems.
  • Background in developing internal web applications using ASP.NET Core or similar technologies.
  • Experience with Azure, Git, on-premises application deployment, role-based access, monitoring, and backup procedures.

Working Environment

This is a hands-on engineering position with no direct reports. The engineer will receive priorities, architectural guidance, and support from the Director of Artificial Intelligence and other team members. They are expected to manage daily execution of assigned work and collaborate with business employees, vendors, IT resources, and subject-matter experts. Major architecture decisions, security exceptions, changes to vendor-owned systems, and significant production changes require leadership approval.

Travel may be more frequent during project discovery, deployment, go-live, and post-deployment support. Occasional after-hours work may be required for planned deployments or urgent production issues.
