About the Role

Under the administrative direction of the Director of Information Technology, this position plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs the activities of the County Information Technology Department to introduce improved efficiencies and effectiveness. The role emphasizes the management, coordination, and planning of all functions within the department, including application/production services, technical services, telecommunications, and data center services. These services support network communication and technical needs across Eddy County departments.

The Assistant IT Director acts on behalf of the department head in their absence to achieve departmental and County missions and may involve high degrees of personal contact with advisory boards, staff, elected and appointed officials, and other agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the IT Director in overall management and strategic planning for all IT services, infrastructure, and applications.
  • Oversee daily IT operations, including service desk, network infrastructure, security, and application support, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate the performance of IT staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, professionalism, and customer service.
  • Assist the IT Director in managing the IT budget, tracking expenditures, and developing annual financial plans.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the organization's IT strategy and roadmap, aligning technology investments with organizational goals.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for IT services to ensure efficiency, reliability, and security.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts while overseeing service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and internal security policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including working irregular hours, overtime, and attending job-related meetings in and out of state.

Pay

Starting salary range: $87,089.60 - $96,116.80.
