Intern, Transportation Design (Summer 2027)
for section headings: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. We must include sections only if posting has real specific content. We must not repeat job title. Must not include Job ID etc. Remove boilerplate, EEO, etc. Must preserve all substantive info.
Let's parse the posting.
Content:
- Intro: "Forge ahead with WSB. Join WSB's award winning National Internship Program and gain real world experience that helps shape your future. At WSB, our people first culture is built on meaningful relationships, teamwork, and innovative thinking. We believe the best learning happens through hands on experience, mentorship, and the opportunity to make a real impact. As an intern, you'll work alongside talented professionals, tackle meaningful projects, and develop skills that will prepare you for the next step in your career. To be considered for this internship, candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status is required."
That's about the role / overview. Could be "About the role" section.
- "What You Will Do" then description of responsibilities: list of duties.
- "Your Responsibilities May Include" then bullet list.
- "What You Will Bring" then list of qualifications/requirements.
- "Who We Are" description of company.
- Benefits: "Full time WSB employees qualify for competitive compensation and benefits package, including medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, company paid short-and long-term disability, 401K with match, paid time off, paid holidays, tuition reimbursement, and opportunities for professional growth and development. Part time employees can participate in the 401K plan and applicable earned paid leave."
That's benefits info. Also maybe "Pay" not specified; we should not create Pay section unless posting actually states it. No explicit pay/salary mentioned. So we omit Pay and Schedule sections.
We need sections: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits. Possibly also "Qualifications" vs "Requirements". The posting has "What You Will Bring" includes qualifications: pursuing degree, entering junior/senior year, interest, familiarity with software, ability to read plans, strong communication, etc. Also "Valid driver's license..." That's qualifications/requirements.
We also have "Skills" maybe separate: but we can combine. The instruction: Use headings for those categories if content exists. We can decide to have sections: About the role, Responsibilities, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits. Or we could have Requirements and Qualifications separate but might be thin. Better to combine into Qualifications (includes requirements). Skills maybe separate: communication, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, teamwork, etc. But those are also in qualifications. Might be okay to have just Qualifications.
We need to avoid filler like "commensurate with experience". Not present.
We must not include boilerplate like EEO, accommodation, third party agencies, etc. Remove those lines.
We must preserve all substantive info. So we need to keep the intro paragraph, the "What You Will Do" paragraph, the responsibilities bullet list, the "What You Will Bring" bullet list, the "Who We Are" paragraph, and benefits paragraph.
We need to format as HTML: About the role
then
...
. For lists:- ...
for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). Use - for any list of duties/requirements/benefits, and
for prose. So we can have About the role with intro paragraph, then Responsibilities heading with a short prose paragraph (the "What You Will Do") then the bullet list.
Thus:
About the role
Forge ahead with WSB. U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status is required.
Responsibilities
The Transportation Design Intern will support the planning, design, and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects while gaining hands-on experience working alongside engineers and project teams. This role provides exposure to roadway, highway, traffic, and transportation improvement projects and the opportunity to develop technical and professional skills in a collaborative environment.
- Assisting with the design and preparation of plans for transportation projects, including roadways, highways, intersections, trails, and related infrastructure.
- Supporting engineers with design calculations, cost estimates, traffic analyses, and technical evaluations.
- Assisting in the preparation of reports, specifications, permit applications, and other project documentation.
- Reviewing engineering drawings, plans, and technical documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with design standards.
- Participating in project meetings, site visits, field observations, and data collection activities.
- Collaborating with engineers, designers, planners, and other disciplines to deliver high-quality transportation solutions.
- Supporting project coordination, research, and the development of design alternatives.
- Assisting with the use of industry software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or other transportation design tools.
- Learning transportation design standards, engineering practices, and project delivery processes while contributing to active projects.
- Supporting the development of safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation systems for public and private clients.
Now Qualifications/Requirements: "What You Will Bring" list.
We could have a heading "Qualifications" and include the list.
But also there are some statements like "Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related engineering program from an accredited university." etc.
We'll put them as list items.
Thus:
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related engineering program from an accredited university.
- Entering Junior or Senior year of study at the time of the internship.
- Interest in transportation design, roadway engineering, traffic engineering, highway design, or transportation infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or other transportation design software is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, drawings, and technical documents.
- Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Eagerness to learn transportation design standards, engineering principles, and project delivery processes.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record preferred.
Now "Who We Are" description: Could be under "About the company" but not in prescribed headings. We could put under "About the role" maybe but we already used that. Could create a section "About WSB" but not in list. The instruction says use those headings for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). It doesn't forbid other headings? It says use for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). Likely they expect only those headings. So we should incorporate "Who We Are" into maybe About the role or Benefits? But it's not benefits. Could be part of About the role as additional prose. However About the role already has intro; we could add another paragraph after that about the company. That would be okay: still under About the role heading.
Thus we can add another
after the intro paragraph under About the role: "WSB is a design and consulting firm specializing in Transportation, Community Planning, Environmental, Energy, Municipal, and Construction services. We provide solutions for the places, spaces and systems that support our lives. We offer services in more than 50 complementary areas across the nation."
We must ensure we don't repeat any boilerplate. That's fine.
Now Benefits: we have paragraph about benefits. We'll create
Benefits
then with that text.
We must not include Pay or Schedule sections because not specified.
Now ensure we removed all boilerplate: EEO statements, accommodation requests, third party agencies, etc. Also removed lines like "As an EEO/Affirmative Action Employer..." etc. Also removed "If you need assistance completing your online application, please email..." etc. Also removed "Notice to Third Party Agencies:" etc.
Check that we kept all substantive info: intro, responsibilities overview, responsibilities bullet list, qualifications bullet list, company description, benefits.
Check that we didn't miss any substantive info: The "What You Will Do" paragraph we included under Responsibilities. The "Your Responsibilities May Include" bullet list we included. The "What You Will Bring" bullet list we included under Qualifications. The "Who We Are" paragraph we included under About the role. The benefits paragraph we included under Benefits.
Also we kept the line about "Full time WSB employees qualify for competitive compensation and benefits package, including medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, company paid short-and long-term disability, 401K with match, paid time off, paid holidays, tuition reimbursement, and opportunities for professional growth and development. Part time employees can participate in the 401K plan and applicable earned paid leave." That's benefits.
We didn't include any mention of "Pay" or "Schedule". Good.
Now ensure we didn't inadvertently include any duplicated lines. We have not repeated.
Now output only HTML fragment.
Let's craft final HTML.
We'll need to escape any special characters? The text includes apostrophes etc. It's fine as plain text.
We'll produce:
About the role
Forge ahead with W
for prose. So we can have About the role with intro paragraph, then Responsibilities heading with a short prose paragraph (the "What You Will Do") then the bullet list. Thus:
