About the role

The integration of current coursework into this internship bridges the gap between academic study and professional practice, forming a bidirectional learning cycle. Interns apply theoretical frameworks to real-world challenges while using professional experiences to refine and deepen their understanding of academic concepts.

Responsibilities

• Integrate academic knowledge with laboratory research.
• Develop technical research skills in mammalian cell culture, mouse work, microscopy, and laboratory documentation.
• Analyze and communicate scientific findings by presenting in lab meetings and other CIRM meetings.
• Build professional skills required to pursue advanced education or a career in stem cell research, regenerative medicine, aging biology, or cancer research.

Qualifications

By the end of the internship, the student will have gained:

• Introductory knowledge of biomedical research, liver biology, laboratory safety, research ethics, and experimental design.
• Basic supervised skills in scientific observation, data interpretation, literature discussion, scientific communication, and introductory laboratory techniques such as pipetting and basic sample handling.
