Intern, Structural

Structural Intern position in Halff’s Richardson, TX office. The internship runs June 7, 2027 – August 13, 2027, full-time (40 hrs/week, typically 8 a.m.–5 p.m., M–F). Halff does not pay for or provide housing.

About the role

Civil Engineering Intern supporting the Structural team on transportation design projects, including TxDOT, city, and county roadway and highway design. Duties include assisting with plans, specifications, cost estimates, CAD drafting, calculations, permit applications, coordination with surveyors/architects/contractors, and attending client/agency meetings under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.

What You Will Do

• Design civil engineering projects under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer
• Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Transportation projects
• Assist with drafting CAD work
• Perform calculations and analysis for design projects
• Assist in the preparation of permit applications and other regulatory documents
• Coordinate with other team members, including surveyors, architects, and contractors
• Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies

What You Will Need

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET-accredited equivalent Engineering Degree
• Great communication skills
• Solid relationship and team-building skills
• Self-motivated with strong organization skills
