Responsibilities
- Manuscript Submission and Peer Review Process
- submitted manuscripts through peer review according to editorial office best practices
- Track submissions for special issues or conference publications
- Develop and implement consistent language for instruction pages
- Research manuscripts in submission system and external databases such as PubMed
- Scientific Statements and Guidelines
- Compile and review author and reviewer disclosure statements
- Manage reprint permission requests and relevant communications with journal publisher
- Special Projects
- Contribute to journals' social media activities as needed
- Formalize and document staff training material
- Aid management with special projects as needed/assigned
Qualifications
- Seniors, and graduate students pursuing a degree in publishing, technical writing, or biology or other science-related fields are encouraged to apply.
- Experience managing projects preferred.
- Experience working with volunteers, particularly science volunteers.
- Strong customer service and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate information accurately and effectively to multiple audiences.
- Experience working with databases and electronic reporting tools.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Familiarity with social media platforms preferred.
- Excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
