Responsibilities

  • Manuscript Submission and Peer Review Process
  • submitted manuscripts through peer review according to editorial office best practices
  • Track submissions for special issues or conference publications
  • Develop and implement consistent language for instruction pages
  • Research manuscripts in submission system and external databases such as PubMed
  • Scientific Statements and Guidelines
  • Compile and review author and reviewer disclosure statements
  • Manage reprint permission requests and relevant communications with journal publisher
  • Special Projects
  • Contribute to journals' social media activities as needed
  • Formalize and document staff training material
  • Aid management with special projects as needed/assigned

Qualifications

  • Seniors, and graduate students pursuing a degree in publishing, technical writing, or biology or other science-related fields are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience managing projects preferred.
  • Experience working with volunteers, particularly science volunteers.
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate information accurately and effectively to multiple audiences.
  • Experience working with databases and electronic reporting tools.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms preferred.
  • Excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
