Intern, R&D Undergraduate Year-Round - Semiconductor Material and Device Sciences, Onsite

About the role

We are seeking a responsible, enthusiastic, and conscientious year-round undergraduate student intern to support an exciting experimental materials science project.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and assist with the synthesis and processing of novel materials for magnetic and ferroelectric composites via physical or chemical processes
  • Learn and assist with electron microscopy and electron microscopy sample preparation
  • Learn and assist with testing magnetic material properties
  • Learn and assist with data collection, data analysis, computer/electronic interfacing, and/or computer modeling
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively and responsibly in a research team, and contribute towards a safe and secure laboratory working environment

Requirements

  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
  • Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, asylees or refugees in the U.S.
  • A background and/or references that demonstrate good oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Functional knowledge and understanding of a suite of standard computer software skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Relevant science or engineering coursework, teaching, or lab experiences relevant for project needs
  • Relevant experience working in a materials research laboratory that demonstrates relevant materials synthesis or materials testing/characterization skills; experience or knowledge of B-H analysis and magnetometry is highly desirable
  • Relevant experience with electron microscopy image collection and data analysis
  • Relevant experience in advanced computer interfacing, modeling, and/or electronics

Pay

Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package.
