About the role
The Historic Trades internships at Colonial Williamsburg offer ten to twelve-week experiences in various trades shops. Interns assist full-time staff in operations, including interpretation and demonstration to guests, production, and research.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and demonstrate trades to guests
- Engage in production activities
- Undertake assigned research projects
- Provide outstanding customer service
- Follow safety and security procedures
- Ensure adherence to safety and security procedures in absence of supervisor and journeymen
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
- High School Diploma or HSE
- Valid Virginia driver's license with acceptable driving record
- At least 21 years old
- No more than 1 moving violation or at-fault accident within 12 months
- No more than 2 moving violations or at-fault accidents within 36 months
- Able to provide a 5-year Motor Vehicle Record prior to employment
- Enrollment or completion in an undergraduate program in American History or related field
- Experience working with the trade
- Interest in 18th-century material culture
- Previous living history museum experience
- Familiarity with Colonial Williamsburg Historic Trades program
Preferred Qualifications
