Intern-Personal Training
About the Role
The Life Time Personal Training Internship is designed for passionate individuals ready to launch a career in the health and fitness industry. Ideal for those with an accredited fitness certification or related degree, this hands-on program provides direct mentorship from top trainers and real-world experience in Personal Training Services. Interns follow a structured schedule, gaining essential skills through observation, client interaction, and hands-on training. By applying their knowledge in a dynamic club environment, interns enhance the member experience while upholding the excellence of the Life Time brand.
Responsibilities
- Reads, watches, and engages in all required training associated with the role and adheres to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Provides fitness floor assistance to all members to ensure safety, provide education, and motivate members.
- Fulfills member service requirements such as fitness assessments, equipment operations, service desk duties, and fitness equipment cleaning.
- Promotes personal training programs and services.
- Ensures all members feel competent, confident, and connected by providing superior customer service through complimentary and based services/programming.
- Documents weekly experience, including interesting observations, lessons learned, questions for discussion, comments on workouts observed, useful client communication/training techniques, etc.
- Assists with personal training sessions when appropriate.
- Demonstrates behaviors consistent with Life Time's Mission & Vision, culture, and values in all interactions with clients, coworkers, and the general public.
- Conducts weekly check-ins with supervisor to review progress on weekly objectives and set actions for the upcoming week.
- Participates in member experience and engagement activities such as boothing, fitness floor engagement, front desk support, member reach outs, etc.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Working knowledge of health and fitness and the human body, with the ability to quickly grasp and apply new concepts.
- Punctual with a positive, enthusiastic, energetic personality that enjoys working with people.
- Desire to work towards an accredited Personal Training Certification and/or Degree in a related field.
- Desire to work as a Life Time Personal Trainer in the near future.
- Openness to working in other departments at Life Time to support customer experience and engagement.
- Ability to perform an aerobic activity for the duration of a class and to bend, stand, reach, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPR and AED certified.
- Experience working in and/or shadowing at a fitness facility.
- Experience with program design.
- Coursework related to health and fitness.
- Experience in customer service.
