Responsibilities
- Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.
- Maintains a smooth flow in waiting areas and exam rooms and alerts patients and team members of delays.
- Performs medical assistant duties in a safe and efficient manner.
- Takes brief patient histories that include chief complaints, vital signs, and weights; assists physicians with procedures; draws blood and obtains urine specimens; administers injections as approved for CMAs (if certified); provides patient instructions per physician's orders; conducts authorized in-office tests.
- Prepares patient charts in advance of their visit.
- Accurately and promptly sets up examination rooms, materials, and equipment; monitors required stock levels and anticipates unique supply needs for patients/providers.
- Monitors general clinical supply inventory and equipment; may assist with preloading data into EMR system.
- Completes all authorized patient chart documentation in an accurate, legible, and timely manner.
- Responsible for the preparation of the examination rooms.
- May be responsible for assisting with preloading data into EMR system.
- Completes other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 5 lbs. and stands a minimum of 1 hour a day.
Qualifications
- Enrollment in and completion of classroom portion at an accredited school of Medical Assisting.
- Passed, or eligible to sit for, a National Certified Medical Assistant certificate.
- MUST have reliable transportation to the assigned practice every day as scheduled.
- Licenses and Certifications Required:
- BLS
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support
- HCP Certification
