Intern, Drug Substance Manufacturing - Downstream and Central Services (Mon-Fri, 2pm-10:30pm)
Position Summary

As a Manufacturing Associate, you'll play a crucial role in supporting our Gene Therapy Manufacturing Facility in Bedford, MA. Your responsibilities will include attending daily manufacturing tie 1 meetings, generating and reviewing SOPs, batch records, and protocols, and ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of the facility.
Responsibilities
- Attend daily manufacturing tie 1 meetings and prepare for discussions about current operation status.
- Generate, review, and approve new and existing SOPs, batch records, and protocols to support equipment and manufacturing processes in Downstream manufacturing areas.
- Support quality investigations, continuous improvement efforts, and engineering activities that affect the functionality of the manufacturing areas.
- Ensure the maintenance, upkeep, and organization of the facility and processes within the Downstream manufacturing areas.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues representing diverse work styles and cultures.
- Adhere strictly to current good manufacturing practices, standard operating procedures, and manufacturing documentation.
- Document equipment operation and process instructions clearly and accurately, and maintain accurate process data.
- Practice safe work habits and adhere to safety procedures and guidelines.
Requirements
- Participating in a relevant degree program (biotechnology, STEM major) or having recently completed a biotechnology training program.
- Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or other regulated industries is ideal, but not required.
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations, including fractions, decimals, and percentages, and basic algebraic and geometric calculations.
- Experience with viral vectors is preferred, but not required.
- Strong collaboration, team-working skills, and communication skills.
- Independent motivation and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Work Model
This role is primarily conducted on-site, with a full-time schedule starting in July 2026 and ending on December 18, 2026.
Physical Demands/Work Environment/Safety Considerations
- Stand for extended periods of time with periodic stooping, bending, and kneeling.
- Able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Climb ladders and stairs of various heights.
- Work in a controlled environment requiring GxP gowning and wearing protective clothing.
- May require the use of a respirator; medical clearance is required in advance.
- Must remove all makeup, jewelry, and contact lenses while in the manufacturing environment.
- Work in temperature-controlled environments (cold rooms).
Pay
The U.S. hourly wage range for this position is $23.00-$30.00 per hour. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate's experience and educational background.
