Intern – Community Outreach

About the role
The Transportation Department of NCTCOG is seeking an Intern to support its public involvement and community outreach program. Primary work functions include contributing to communications and outreach efforts for transportation and air quality projects and programs.
Ideal candidates should attend school in the Dallas-Fort Worth region and be able to work at least 20 hours per week while attending school.
Responsibilities
- Drafting for supervisor review, publications, advertisements, newsletters, correspondence, brochures, mailers, invitations, signs, and flyers
- Working with supervisor to develop graphics, digital and print content, visualizations and overall communication elements for a variety of Transportation Department programs and projects (i.e., Air North Texas)
- Assisting with website updates
- Assisting with planning for events and committee meetings
- Compiling and creating for supervisor review, marketing analytics/performance measures and associated reports for the department’s educational campaigns
- Working with supervisor to coordinate program and/or project needs for advertising and other communication outlets
- Working with supervisor to quantify communication projects
- Gathering, organizing, and packing materials and inventory items for community outreach events
- Assisting with database maintenance, including data entry
Requirements
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Basic knowledge of Publisher and Adobe Creative Suite preferred
- Good communication, both verbal and written, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen to and follow instructions, coordinate with other team members, and present ideas
- Detail oriented, highly organized and creative, with an ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline-driven environment without diminishing quality of work
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Qualifications
- Must be attending an accredited college or university in a degree-seeking program during employment (e.g., communications, public relations, advertising, marketing, or a related field)
- No work experience required
Pay
Starting salary: minimum of $17.10 per hour
