Intern/Co-op - Refining Mechanical Engineer (Fall 2027)

Located in Findlay, Ohio with additional refinery locations across the United States (including Anacortes WA, Canton OH, Catlettsburg KY, Detroit MI, El Paso TX, Galveston Bay, Garyville LA, Kenai AK, Los Angeles CA, Mandan ND, Martinez CA, Robinson IL, Salt Lake City UT, St Paul Park MN).

Responsibilities

• Become familiar with industry codes and best practices.
• Build critical thinking skills.
• Gain understanding of how all engineering disciplines work together as a cohesive team.
• Work with a team of professionals who run a specific portion of the refining process.
• Opportunity to work on more than one area of the refinery, leading to a broad understanding of plant operations.
• Expand written and verbal presentation skills in a professional work environment.
• Area Refining Engineer/Project Engineer: develop and use project management skills to create project scopes, estimates, and schedules; oversee design effort and assist in construction process.
• Reliability Engineer: support Maintenance Department through design and development of equipment-related improvements, including root cause failure analysis, optimization of maintenance programs for rotating equipment, troubleshooting fixed equipment, and evaluating new technology in design, materials, and repair methods to achieve longer run times at lower costs.

Qualifications

• Majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong academic performance.
• Authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Positions available spring, summer, and fall semesters.
• Availability for multiple work terms preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Concurrent enrollment in a degree‑seeking program.
• Military experience a plus.

Pay

MIN - $32.92 per hour / MAX - $41.67 per hour
